  1. Came here for practical advice and instead got bs. The time i spend working is not time i spend having fun.

  2. i was doing that only, but many thanks to the family of my wife side, they could not digest my working from home, and pushed me to be in a situation where now its mandatory for me to work from office

it has been so stupid since.
work which could have been completed in 4hours i am now doing that in days

  3. Way too complicated. Too much overthinking. Work to the best of your own abilities. Remember that expectations are already on you without putting it on yourself. He(this Simon) is brilliant from the stand point of intinerary the shit out of your life, but let’s face it, if you’re someone of great importance within your established choice of employment..you are still replaceable. Do what you can and do your best to achieve those goals someone else has given you.

  4. I relocated to a place renown for hiking adventures, so that I would be able to work and go for a hike or camp out, during the week and weekends rather than enjoy one – 4 week holiday a year. Work-life balance is achievable.

  5. i understand the theory, but most "blue collar" managers don’t have the ability to "take a run" if they feel like it. This is for stay at home workers or something not real life scenarios like others posted below. have yet to hear reality on this balance

  6. I’m captivated by every word. I read a book with similar content, and I was completely captivated. "Dominating Your Clock: Strategies for Professional and Personal Success" by Anthony Rivers

  7. Yeah, its 4 o’clock in the afternoon and you feel like going for a run, you just tell that queue of customers and your boss that you feel like going run because its important for your spirit. They’ll understand.
    😂 😂 🤡

  8. It’s great to hear about companies embracing a more human approach, but let’s not forget the many for whom "work-life balance" is a luxury they simply can’t afford. We need to keep fighting for better conditions and fair compensation for *all* workers, so everyone has a chance to integrate their lives more fully.

  9. It’s a privilege to even have the discussion about integrating work and life; for many, work is simply a means to survive, and flexibility is a distant dream.

  10. Unfortunately the 9-5 produces the most productivity and america is never going to allow us this flexibility… we’ll always be treated as machines

  11. I’m not going to name any names… but I have recently started working for a very popular outdoor sporting goods store here in St Louis Missouri. I actually interviewed and was hired for an entity of the store which is through a well-known credit card company to get credit card accounts for this store. I was there through grand opening and got this store going and we became number one in the nation in the credit card department. As soon as this happened they made cuts and since I was one of the people who had the most hours they cut me. The sporting store that this entity was in recognized my accomplishments and wanted to keep me but the only position that they could give me was a cashier’s position. I have worked 30 years in retail climbing a ladder so I would never have to be a cashier again. To keep myself from having to find another job I agreed because they said that they would give me full-time with benefits however they have been forcing me to work what they call a "cashier’s schedule"basically having no work-life balance whatsoever. I have been struggling with PTSD and trying to work this schedule has put me in a position of being triggered all day long. I got into therapy but work would not allow me the day off for the only day that I could do therapy so I had to email HR and threatened that they were keeping me from getting medical attention. They allowed me Wednesdays off but they still would not give me a work-life balance scheduling me hours such as 11:00 to 8:00 1:00 to 9:00 sometimes 9:00 to 6:00… I never knew exactly when I was going to be working. I finally reached the point of burnout and had to go on disability. My doctor and the disability program headset restrictions and or stipulations for me to work a specific schedule upon returning to work. My work is not wanting to comply with this schedule. I had to have my doctor and disability program reach out to them again because they were trying to say that they never received this information. They said that they will review it and get back to me.

  12. "Why should work and life be in opposition?" Because at work I am not my real self. If I discussed my personal beliefs, religious or political beliefs at the office I would be reprimanded by HR. The person I pretend to be at work is completely manufactured and fake, THAT is why work and personal life is in opposition.

  13. So theoretical. What happens is everyone calls off at once and simps like me have to work longer. I want a European system

  14. Fun Fact: Based on our productivity increase since about 1979 we would only need to work 24 hours a week and be paid for 40 to have the same productivity levels

  15. Both my husband and I were dual military raising a blended family of 8 ..work life balance was literally us making choices to take a break from the robotic mindset, that helped. You def have to do your job but you also need to realize you are a human not a robot lol. We both are happier now being dual retired

  16. Well, not everyone has a job where they can choose to workout in the middle of the day.

  17. If they take off during business hours, like 2-4 "to be with their family" or "go for a run" etc. How do you ensure they make up the work????

  18. Simon always inspires me to think differently about my work. By the way, I started using Astirna New Tab to help manage my work-life balance, and it’s really useful.

  19. The less agency you have over your work, the more work-life balance is an important consideration.

Once you have full control over your schedule, work & life blend.

  20. This only applies to professional office workers. How does this work for a farmer, an assembly line worker, a nursing home aide? Calling in sick is about it and btw, their employers don’t really care that their employees have other priorities, and btw, they’ll be calling you in to work another shift because someone else has called in sick. There goes your weekend. Just being real.
