The Tools Missing from Your Tool Box: We have tools for our cars, tractors, computers, etc. These tools along with the upkeep are essential for the the machines to work effectively. We know these tools like the back of our hand. But what about our feelings, emotions, and brain health? The research is telling us that the ag industry is suffering from burnout, overwhelm, stress, anxiety and depression. So how far could the industry get if we took care of our brain and emotional well being. If we added a breathing exercise, thought inspection, and community to our tool box not only could we could lower suicide rates, but we could also increase production, profitability and continue to improve our individual health, the health of our businesses, and health of the future generations involved in central valley agriculture. Ashley is rethinking the way we support Mental Health in the food and agriculture space. She specializes in tangible tools and simple strategies through her corporate wellness and mental health trainings for ag families and businesses alike. Ashley grew up in the dairy industry and now farms and ranches with her family in California’s Central Valley. She has her B.A in Human Development, and Masters in Social Work with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Southern California. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
